Mail Call!! {Thank you, CraftyRie}

I have had some amazing mail show up in my box and I wanted to share the goodies with you!!

First was a Sunshine in the Mail swap package from the lovely Rie at Craftyrie.
Just look at the stamped paper goodness!

The cutest little box which neatly hid the lovely Mona doll.

I also got some incredible fabrics... zigzags... Christmas Kangaroos!!!  and horse loving fabric.  I'm a lucky lucky gal!!

Incredible note cards with some of the coolest animal cutouts.  I'm loving the patchwork feel of the paper!!

And a postcard of a mountain near Rie's hometown in Australia.  So so pretty!!

This was certainly sunshine in the mail!!  Oh yes-sirree!!  Thank you again Rie for your thoughtful and totally delightful package!!

Happy Hippo Art Quilt {postcard size}

I finished a small postcard sized art quilt and am quite happy with the results.

I first showed you Happy Hippo here.

Next, I added the lettering with embroidery by hand and then set off to add batting and pebble quilt the 'ground.'

And then a border.

And then it still felt as though it needed something.  Do you see the little change here?

Yes, a silly purple pebble.  Delightfully silly.

And here is the final piece.  It measures 4x6.  And I had so much fun making it!!

I am joining in on the fun over at Fabric Tuesday!

Fresh Poppy Design

And lastly, puppy pictures -- best way to start the week!!  Here is Sammy on a recent car trip.  And no, I wasn't driving and taking photos.  She has been a good puppy passenger so far!!

Happy Moment #38: Happy as a...

A Friday ritual with Soulemama.  A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.  A simple, special, extraordinary, happy moment.  A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments too!

Ten from Thursday

Yes, I'm loving picking out 10 wonderful things from the day.  With this time off I am enjoying taking lots of pictures and it's just as fun to share them.  Here are ten from yesterday!

I am sewing up a few fabric postcards.

Sammy riding co-pilot.

Pups napping in the car on the way to our hike.

Sammy loving that we are taking her on a hike.

The day was beautiful with big fluffy cloud on a blue sky.

Katie just got a piece of ham and cheese sandwich!!

One of the crevices that we got to walk through.

The girls taking a rock break.

Sammy is drinking from the doggy travel bowl.  Whole head in!

Seriously, it was a clear day!  And lots of fun had by all!!

Mail Call: {Thank you Monika!}

I am so fortunate for the friends I have made through blogging.  I got a bit of mail over the weekend and it's just filled me up with joy!

Monika, from My Sweet Prairie, is an amazingly talented fiber artist.  You can feel the passion she puts in her work.. the detail.. the skill... the creativity.  I am so lucky to call Monika a friend and get a piece of her work in the mail.

This postcard titled Columbine & Combine 2010  has found a happy home in my art space... so inspirational to push me to keep picking up thread and pushing what I can do with my sewing machine!

Monika, Thank you!  xoxo!!

Mellow Yellow Monday: Postcard

This post is inspired by Mellow Yellow Monday! For more yellowy goodness click here MellowYellowBadge

Getting a bright, happy and fun postcard in the mail from Spain = happiness!

Postcards are such a fun way to remind someone that you are thinking of them or to tell them a little story! The world would be a better place if we sent each other more postcards! Mucho gracias! Happy Monday!

Fabric Art

Putting together colorful creations with just fabric, thread and time = happiness!

I'll be the first to admit that I am fabric hoarder. I can't help myself from picking up colorful fabric when I see them (even though I already have bunch). I recently discovered Fabric Postcards. It's more or less a 4x6 quilt you hand make that is mail-legal to send to an address. I just can't get enough of the reaction the postal works have when I go to send one of these babies. Too cool!
