Happy Moment #14: Gimme a Smooch

A Friday ritual with Soulemama.  A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.  A simple, special, extraordinary, happy moment.  A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments too!

Lingering with coffee

Ahh, it's the weekend.  Finally a chance to sleep in, wake up when your body is ready, snuggle a little extra, linger with a cup of coffee, and read a book in the sunshine!

All incredible reasons to be oh so happy!

All things I have done this morning!

The weather has come through with it's promise to be sunny today and I am hoping it will still reach 50 degrees!  While I am about to run out and enjoy the weather, I am thinking about the melting snow.

This time of year is about transition.  The cold weather warming, the snow giving way to the crocus, tulip, and daffodil bulbs, and me moving from the couch under a blanket to outside with my hands in the dirt.

These are a few snaps from the last snow storm.  Their isn't really a theme to them, other than they are more reminders that even in a chaotic moment, happiness can be found.

This is the wrought iron railing that comes up my front stairs.  I'm memorized how the snow found a place to sit within the S's and pile up as high as it did.

Between trying to catch the drips and breaking a few off for Katie to eat we both found a lot of fun in playing with these icicles.

Doesn't our stone fire oven look all snuggled in under the snow?  It was really pretty to look at the stone against the contrast of the snow.  I can't wait to fire this thing up in the spring and make some quesadillas or pizza bagels in it!

I'm sure you guessed that Katie was my partner in crime as I walked.  She would lay down in the snow like this and listen to all the sounds of cars, birds, and snow falling off tree's.  She seems so comfortable in the blanket of snow.

I couldn't help but play with the low hanging tree branches that were weighted down from the snow.  They easily made a cute addition to photos!

I don't think I will ever have enough Katie running pictures.  Just look as she comes toward me at doggy lightening speed!  Katie to the rescue!!

I finally captured a snap of a snowflake falling!

It's not in focus, but I have been wanting to get one all winter and it's a darn good start!  It's important to note that when I am trying to photo a falling snowflake I need a background that isn't white.

So, there you have it.  I have had plenty of fun in the snow.  That said, I am ready for warm weather, sunshine, light showers, bulbs growing, flowers, leaves on the trees, and my hands in the dirt.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

It's Great!

Snow has been the focus of my world lately.  Moving snow, driving in snow, fearing snow, getting days off because of snow, and wishing there would be no more snow.

With that in mind... let's do a why snow is great countdown.

Here is the Top 5 Things that Make Snow Amazing!

5. Snow on the ground means you always have something to throw for the dog (snowball).

4. Snow means a certain chill in the air which is the perfect excuse for a snuggle with a loved one.  Even the slobbery kind!

3. Snow makes for some great slipping and sledding.  Whether you snowboard, ski, tube, or sled on it... they are all a blast!

2. It's really really beautiful when you have a moment to stop and take it all in.  That serene blanket of white covering every in-perfection, every ugliness.  It really makes the world seem more quiet, simple and peaceful!

1. Snow is temporary.  I live in a place where it will eventually go away.  Spring is around the corner.

How does snow make you happy?

Flak-key!

Yesterday was a flaky kind of day for me.  Too busy... too tired... and I didn't have any pre-written blogs to post up quickly.  To make up for it I have three things for you today!

Speaking of flakes.... Snowflakes are really pretty incredible when you think about it!  Each and every one supposedly is a different design.  So, since we have a ton of the stuff.. I got really close to see what I could find.

As usual I was amazed!!  These were taken at night.. I can only imagine how much more you would be able to see with light reflecting off them.

I can't get over how delicate they seem.  How each one has so much personality and detail.  And my brain gets dizzy trying to think about how many snowflakes it must take to make up the mounds that we have hanging around.

Sort of like how each of us is so different, but takes all of us to make up this crazy place called Earth!

Remembering we are all unique and special... much like these snowflakes = happiness!

Here is another time I took a close look at frozen things: Tiny Crystals

Tiny Crystals

These are the tiniest little ice crystals all dancing about in their frozen glory. Seeing something so tiny, yet so detailed = so cool!

Another reminder to slow down and take a look at all the amazing things around us!
