Falling for Fall

Hello, Fall!  My, oh my, have we been enjoying you... let me count the ways!

::  Got to spend some one-on-one time with Katie... even if it was taking her to the vet.
::  We've been staring at the trees, marvelling at the colors, and laughing at the falling leaves.

::  We have been enjoying naps and snuggling on the couch.  Especially when there is a fire is in the fireplace.
::  We have been totally enjoying every minute of football.  It almost doesn't even matter who is playing, as long as it's a good match up.  Bonus points if it's a Giants game and we Giants fans can live the game play by play.  It's not a quiet thing.

::  We have been enchanted by the deep blues of a clear fall day or the clever patterns of the clouds.
::  We have napped in other places.  The four legged babes are dropping off quick from all the time moving outdoors.

::  We've groomed trails for hiking.  Thing are a little tidier and blocked paths are more ready to recieve visitors.
::  I've sewn in preparation for the Pat Pauly art quilting class I am taking tomorrow.  More on that soon!

::  I've continued my hand sewing adventure on the healing cloth that I started earlier.
::  We stopped to play in the sand (at the lake beach).  It was a great reminder to slow down and enjoy the sunshine.

::  The pups were bathed.  It was a long time coming, but Ms. Sammy helped things along by rolling in and attaching poo to her head.  Smelly business.  They are so soft and fluffy now.  It won't last, but it was a nice reminder that they clean up alright!
::  I have packed a ton of my favorite fabrics for the art quilting workshop I mentioned above (the one with Pat Pauly).  It's called Slash and Burn.  I'm nervous... but it's that good kind of nervous.  The kind when you know something special is about to happen!  It's all about improv creating.  I promise I will share more on the experience.

...and as always, if you'd like to see more of what's Happy in the moment... I'm instagramming up a storm; @cwiltex gets you there!

Happy Moment #36: On Top of the World!

A Friday ritual with Soulemama.  A single photo (or a few) - no words - capturing a moment from the week.  A simple, special, extraordinary, happy moment.  A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments too!

Katie Dog Days: Romancing Spring

Katie and I want to welcome you in from Suzy Sitcom (if that is how you are finding us today); it's an honor to be featured there!!  Come in, take your jacket off, get comfortable, and have some sun tea and cupcakes!!

Today is all about Katie, the almost four year old golden retriever the mister and I share our lives with, and her adventures outside.  With the snow melting there are lots of good smells to take in, she can get up to a full speed run again, and she may have eaten a stick or two.

For Katie Dog Days I try to follow Katie as she romps around and fully experience what she stops to see... it's truly an eye opening thing to see the world from the pups perspective.  She really knows how to enjoy the small things and her excitement for those small things is really contagious!  Let's see what she found today!

She couldn't pass up the moss that is starting to spring back to life.

A sniff. a snort. laid down on it. then off she went.  The moss is soft and was really nice to sit on!

She found a few more bulbs peaking through.  These were randomly in the backyard.  Maybe the doings of a squirrel or chipmunk?  It's really adorable how she appreciates flowers!

Like I shared yesterday, Katie is still savoring the last bits of snow.  She dives straight into the pile, lays down, and eats the snow.

I must have snapped her mid-chew.  What a funny face!

It looks like she is taking things in and trying to decide which way to go next.  And who doesn't love that little cute tongue sticking out?

Ohhh. I've been spotted.  Yup, I'm definitely getting the mom, stop stalking me with that camera look.

"Ugg, will you just please come play with me?"

"Mmmmmm, this snow is such a delicacy!!  Do you want to try some?"

"I think I will take my next meal right here.  This snow therapy is exactly what I need to sooth my muscles!"

"What do you mean you won't bring my dinner out here to eat al fresco?  It's warm enough.  honest.  Just put on your fur coat like I have."

Her attention was drawn to the sky and she watched the geese fly over head.  She is a meant to be a bird hunting dog.  Guess that sort of thing comes naturally.

Have you noticed that any color looks so darn pretty right now?  It's been a long winter of grays and whites.  Just look at this bright green moss on the side of a large rock.

Even this rusty red popped in the backdrop of grays.

As our adventure was coming to the end.  She plotted up the stairs, but then stopped mid way.

More sniffing. ears up. tail curled. snorted the smell out and kept on going.  Looks like a squirrel enjoyed a quick snack here on the stair.

Katie that was fun!

She always reminds me to slow down.  Take a deep cleansing breath -- release it. slowly.  And enjoy what is right in front of me.  After all, isn't that what life is all about?

Hug the ones you love today and I look forward to sharing some time together soon!

Take a Walk

Sometimes all you need is a walk to clear your mind and put you in a happy state of mind.

Mr. Happy and I walked on the Walkway's Across the Hudson River -- very cool stuff!!

Here is the entrance to the converted railroad bridge.

It's official name is Walkway Over The Hudson.  I believe it is also a state park.

I had lots of unique photo opportunities.  I really like the contrast of what looks like a backward flag and the black chain link fence.

We kept marvelling at how it seemed like we were walking in the tree tops (since the bridge is so tall and the trees start waaaay below on the ground).

It was really a beautiful day for a walk.  Just look at this sky!

As we walked along we started to get a glimpse of the Hudson River.

Looking to the left was a park and another bridge.  Pretty stuff!

It never fails to impress me.... I live in such a pretty place.

Or I like the look of water.  Very calming.  It's pretty to see all the shades of blue together too!  The sky, water, clouds, and even land seems to have a blueish tone to it.

Another look at the bridge as we were nearing the center of the span.

(Not to take this lightly; I understand it's mean to help a potential jumper), but there are days that I could really really use this same type of sign in my office.

The center of the walkway held a plaque.

The plaque talked about the engineers who made this project happen.  Whoop whoop!!  Engineers!!

Couldn't get enough of the bridge and the currents that you could see below it.

Flag in the wind.  Beautiful sight!

Where have you walked lately?

Did you notice that walking (and talking) can really clear you mind and let your frustrations fly away in the wind?

Blue Skies

What do you do when traffic is getting you down or stopped rather?

Why, take pictures of the perfecting ahh-mazing blue sky above you.  Right?
And then realize how dirty your windshield is.  And push the button to lower the window to get a better shot.
And then notice how pretty a cloud looks.
These tree's are pretty, right?  Of course the reflection in the windshield makes me laugh.

May as well use a little stopped time to find a reason to smile!

Crank up a good song and take in the neat things around you.

One to the two to the three to the snow!

What do you get when you combine a beautiful day...

A white tiger (with beautiful eye lashes) and a friendly man inside...  (and yes, he's got a basket full of CAn-DY!)
A man wearing a beer mug hat (do you see him toward the back of the picture?)... I think he thought I was stalking him for this picture...

 With fantastic adventure loving friends...

Yup... you get the perfect day of snowboarding!

It was my first time out for the season.  I am sore, walking funny, and already can't wait to do it all over again!

Thank you lovelies for getting me out and reminding me why I love to board!  Muah!
