Do you feel that? Take a nice big breath in slowly and let it out even slower. Yes, it's time for Mr. Toast's Creative Tuesday's. Oh, how I have missed you!
Mr. Toast, I hope you had the most amazing holiday season, love! Thank you for all you do to host this community and give me this reason to connect with my creative side and sketch pad. I'm not sure I would do it without your gentle nudge.
Today's theme... New Year. Also known as (for me)... open slate.
I did my best to clear my mind and just let that wonderful open-clean slate wash over me and exit through the watercolor pencils.
All that hope, promise, dreams, determination, and confidence on what can be. And what will be!
I've very proud of this one! Feels like a great start to the year... a great sign of what's to come... a chance that this could be a great year for stretching and strengthening creative muscles!
Who's with me!?!!
And in keeping with my normal show of process... here is what my desk looked like toward the end of the drawing.
It's just not a proper doodle for me unless I make a big fuss (mess) all over! And yes, it's important to dump all the pencils out of the box in order to be sure you find just the right shade of green *wink*
This is going to be a fun year!

I love the colors and the open, bubbly feeling. There is much symbolism in the tree shape I see, branching out, rooted to nothing. A great start to the 2011 Creative Tuesday portfolio.
What a great idea. I get the feeling too. This is a fun place to visit. I need all the inspiration I can get. Blessings to you and yours.

I LOVE this! Such wonderful colours and my two favourite things...circles and trees! (I have a mural on my bedroom wall very similar! spooky!)
A fun year is DEFINITELY in store :)
It's perfect, Christine! Your tree feels festive, hopeful, happy and celebratory!...exactly what new years should be! :)
This is a wonderful result of letting your mind and heart out through your pencils... fabulous. I love the colors and patterns!

I'm so glad to see that you quilt and you art! Awesome. Love the tree. Are you planning to Art Quilt it? Sure would be a pretty wallhanging or even bed quilt!!
You made my Tuesday happy.
Thank you friend.
this has a great energy to it. Happy New Year. hope it's one full of fun, colour and vibrancy. :)
You *have* to dump all the pencils out of the box or you haven't really been creative. Fact.
I love this image. It's just so full of hope and happiness. I hope your new year is every bit as beautiful as your drawing!
Lovely drawing and great colors!
What a lovely, cheery picture!
And I love how you have to get messy too....that's what art is all about :o)
Ah, sooooooooooo cute! What kind of sketchbook is that one? Looks very small, I'd say about 6x8, 7x10?? Here's my sketch http://thelunaticsdiary.blogspot.com/2011/01/there-will-be-more-mechs.html
This is so colourful and creative, I love it!
Looks like it will be a bubbly and colourful New Year for you!!
Hope you have a happy and fun one to match your lovely sketch.
What fun! There is such positive energy flowing from your tree with its colorful floating bubbles. Good feelings for 2011.
Oh Christie, this is totally amazing. Maybe your most fun adn creative Ct yet! Don;t you just love it? Yes, I know you do, as do I. It is so fun--mix that with the words your wrote above and I feel very tickled pink (bubbles of course) deep deep down. Talk about "Happy"! thank you for another brilliant post on the process and this art of whimsy and creative flight.
I so love it.
Would you do me a favour, and please suggest a theme or two you;d like to see tackled at some point? I think you have a unique perspective that would inspire many. So glad I can inspire you to do this.
This is so gorgeous and fresh and bright. It's perfect for a new year.
