Welcome Daydream

"Everything starts as somebody's daydream." L. Niven

So, I told you about the cool chair I am breathing new life into (for a charity auction).  Well, here is the first peek at what I have done with it so far.

Removed the original seat and sanded down the base.

Then I began to splash color on it.  BRIGHT color!  At this point I started to scare myself, but I tossed that to the wind quickly and just kept layering.

Concern?  What concern?

Another view down the ladder rungs.

The more color that came out, the more I smiled ear to ear!

Mr. Happy got me one of his work lights, so I could continue well past sunset.  (Which... have you noticed... has gotten so darn early.  I really need to invest in a sun lamp!)

Here is Daydream looking all wild and crazy.  Just the way I like her!

Just look at that layering!

Loving how the lighting really helps change the personality of the chair.  She really goes from day to night look with ease!

And that's it.

That's all you get for now.

I still have the seat to finish reupholstering with an original quilt design.
I still have a ton of detail that I want to add on top of the color splashes.
I still have to remember to breath.  Inhale, exhale!
I have to stop thinking about whether or not someone will actually bid on this chair in the auction.
I have to finalize my artist bio.  I know!  It's getting crazy around here.  I have drafted my first artist bio!
Oh, and did I mention the head shot?  Faint!

More to follow.  Can't have you miss out on this one!

Signs of Spring?

Ok, I cheated with that title to lure you in.  I actually don't have any signs of spring in sight.  But let's see what we can find.

My daily dose of happiness is often times something very small.  Something I could have easily overlooked.  Today is another day of snow.  That's 3 or 4 days of snow in a row now (I've lost track).  Even though I'd really like to see the sun, I am still finding small things to cheer about.

And yes, I have more snow pictures for you.  But... it's nearly all I have around.  So let's take a quick look at the happy here.

1.  I found a bit of color... fabulous, wonderful, cheery, rusty orange and minty green!!  (this was yesterday morning while we were getting a bit of rain)
2. Now look at the mystical blues here!  It's like something out of a story book, even though it's bent, crushed, and broken a lot my bushes and lilac trees.  I'm hoping that means what is left is stronger for it!  (this was what the driveway looked like this morning)
3. Around 30 minutes later the night turned to day.  What a change now to grays and white.  Very soothing colors.
 4. Katie is a snow remover expert!  She can be found out and about helping us most of the time.  I just love when she has snow on her nose!!!
 5. Our cave of a driveway with all the limbs pulled down under the weight of the snow.  I want to title this picture "The path less followed"  -- perfect for us rebels!
 6. As Katie runs around, her duck feathers catch and make little snowballs on her undercarriage.  These are also referred to as "dingle balls."

Is it bad that those little blobs of snow remind me of Belgium sugar?  The same Belgium sugar that is used to make real Belgium waffles!  Nom nom... my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
 7.  This snap reminds me of a postcard.  Gorgeous!
 8. And then it was time to go in and get dry and warm.  I called my Katie-pie and she came dashing... almost flying over to me!  Do you see how it looks like she is running with her eyes closed?  Added bonus.... look at her ears are up and looking all adorable.
So you see.  On a day where it's easy to complain about the weather, a bit of  a closer looks give evidence that happiness is all around still.

You must be open your eyes (and slow down to enjoy it)!  Hope today finds you warm, safe, and able to find some happiness!

Inch by Inch Art - Traveling

Joining in on Remembering Paris' Inch by Inch Art on Tuesdays = happiness! (and check out the other artists joining in on this project by clicking on the Remembering Paris link above)

Today's theme is Journey or Traveling. I'm not sure why I have Babylonian ships on the brain, but could you imagine having to use your own rowing power to get somewhere? There is something fascinating about that kind of determination. The determination to keep pushing through anything in order to get what you want.

This is done in color pencil... and shhhh... don't tell Paris, but I used a 4x4 square since I don't cut straight lines so well.

Jellyfish

Ever seen jelly fish glowing in an aquarium? Something about seeing their effortless dance = happiness!

Plain and simple, I am an aquarium fanatic! This picture is from 2 years ago at the Boston Aquarium; which is a must see if you are in the vicinity. The jelly fish area was dark, with the exception of a tank taller than me full of these odd sqiushy glowing dancers. Making the experience all that much cooler, was a little dial you could turn to change the colors that the jelly fish glowed.

I couldn't have been any happier at that moment, when I was imagining what all the jelly fish were saying to each other as they danced along! Mr. Happy, thanks again for feeding my aquarium passion!

Flower Boxes

Short on dirt? No problem; just the right punch of color and cheer to you as you come home and to others as they pass by -- flower boxes = happiness!

This picture is from a previous trip to Amsterdam

Piles of Fabric

Nothing like a pile of colorful fabrics ready to spring into something creative, inspirational, or useful = happiness!

Wait till you see what it's going to be!
