Creative Tuesday: Holidays

It's a holly jolly Tuesday, it's the best time of the year!!  Yo ho ho it's a holly jolly creative Tuesday!!!

I was excited to dust off my pad and break out a new box of watercolor pencils to see what would come out for this week's Mr. Toast's Creative Tuesday's assignment!

The theme this week was Holidays - ho ho ho!!

This is another tough theme if you ask me, because golly... this could be anything.  Here us what popped out of that zany brain of mine.

I started by flipping through the mountain of holiday ads for inspiration and saw a cute little bear ornament with a red nose and bingo! I had my inspiration.

A bear, a mouse, a snowman - oh my!

Don't you just adore new sharp pencils!  They are sooo pretty!  I had begun playing around with a tree just to get the hang of them.

These are probably a basic set, but I couldn't pass them at the Michael's black Friday sale and I didn't want to commit to a bigger set in case I didn't care for them.  So here we are.

I filled my doodle in with ink and erased my pencil lines.  Oh my goodness, the bird and the mouse just tickles my cheeks!!

And voila!  A few watercolor pencils and Christmas songs sung later and I have a piece I am really proud of.  I scanned it in to capture more of the color and rough lines.

Wishing you and your family the most warm and sincere Christmas, Hanukkah, and every other festive celebration this season.  Hug and kiss the ones around you and continue to be thankful for every laugh that fills your ear!

Cheers to the creative juices flowing in your favor today!  You can check out the other artists or join us here.

How fun! I love it that everyone is wearing antlers, even the moose. Your sense of humor really shines through.

Just love it. I am like you I need nothing in the art department but if I go there I buy something. Just can't resist. Sharp pencils oh my how exciting. There is definitely a lot of inspiration out there. Got my idea from a doc. I saw on TV the other night. Blessings

Such a happy and fun post! I love each and every expression. I too love brightly colored, sharpened pencils. I found a 24 pack of crayons buried in my desk drawer and they made me SO HAPPY!

This indeed "tickles my cheeks" as you so wonderfully say. that is too too cute. Love it, Christie. I always love too how you take the time to talk about your process. it really adds that extra depth and allows us to get to know some of your fun zaniness a bit more. I've seen animals gathered before but never aroudn a snowman, and such a dear one at that. Aww. Hee. it's just perfect. thankn you for doing this! And, yes, Happy christmas to you too.

I shalln;t, owever, be kissing my colleague, Kevin, right next to me. no, that simply woudl not do at all. Ha.

Oh, and btw, LOVED your Christmas refrain up top--my new favourite holiday song. Ha. Well, ok, one of them! Yes, this makes me very happy. :D

Oh, one more thing, well, ok, two actually--you simply must join in the festivities next year for the, Tea, assuming I have one! And 2, I do SO love a box of new pencils--esp. the smell of them. you are quite right there. Well noted. I'm just glad you cracked it open for Creative Tuesdays.
