A Must See Giveaway!

Well, you will be once you I tell you about the generous and exciting fabric giveaway over at the lovely DukeSaysSewWhat.  Kris is the master quilter behind the scenes, but for me it's the lovely Duke that steals the show most of the time.  It's he just the cutest thing?   And he makes a darn good quilting assistant if I may say so!

You already know I'm a sucker for cute dogs.  Yup.  Sucker!

Ok, so now to tempt you with the fabrics.... *waving a fat quarter in front of your nose*.... the coordinated oranges get me everytime.  Seriously my favorite color and also the color for 2012!  Love it!!  Umm, yes please.  Kris, let me send you my shipping address *wink, wink* 

And how cute is it that you even get the felt basket and little strawberry pin cushion.  Totally fantastic!

I'm starting to realize that I probably should just be keeping this to myself.... but what else are quilting buddies for.  I mean we all love us some fabrics and meeting other fabric-o-holics is a nice bonus, right?

Whoopie!  Don't we all love a fun giveaway?!!

Anywho, I spent last night cutting more Fandango (shared the strip tease yesterday here).  The pattern I'm making up is starting to become more clear. 

Don't you just adore the aqua, pink, brown, and yellow combos here?  And there is even a splash of orange thrown in for good measure!  *adore!*

Here is what I am thinking for the blocks.  Trying to create a whole mess of "X's" or crosses... the name noodling around in my head is something like the "X" Marks the Spot Quilt. 

Tonight and tomorrow I am planning on a whole mess of block sewing!!  I think these will be about 6 1/2 inch blocks when finished... I'm still trying to decide if they need a border around them or if I will just make more blocks to reach my twin size quilt. 

No clue.  Just winging it.  And loving every moment!!

A Little Birdie Wants to Tell You...

...I'm being featured at Quilt Story today!!  Hippity hop on over there to take a looksie!

Heather and Megan, thank you so much for shining a light on my work!  I so enjoy reading your blog and participating in Fabric Tuesdays -- it's such a cool feeling to see my quilt on your pages! You've really made me smile!!

To celebrate I would like to show you a project I found yesterday that has captured my imagination and my sewing needle -- and they work up quick!  I happily stumbled on Spool Sewing and Laura's amazing bird pattern.  You can get the free pattern there too!

It goes a little something like this.  Pick two fun complimenting fabrics.  A few quick snips of the pattern like so...

 Pin your pieces right sides together and sew up the edges and head like the instructions point out.

Turn that bird right side out... and stuff with left over snips of batting from previous quilt that you didn't know what you would do with... but knew you couldn't throw away.

And the next thing you knew you are ready to sew up the tail and greet your new feathered friend!!  I think I shall call him Pierre.

These little birds are so cute!  I already have about ten combo's in my head and even more people that I would like to make a few for.  But guess what?  I am going to share one with one of you!!

Yes, you heard right!  It wouldn't be a celebration without a little party gift!
